Materials Needed: All material will be provided.

Class Summary:
In this ongoing class, your child will get exposure to Japanese culture, basic words, and stories in Japanese in a fun and engaging way! Studies show that immersive learning is the best way for younger learners to acquire a new language. Come listen to and engage with short age-appropriate stories and books each week and get acquainted with the Japanese language!

No prior knowledge of Japanese is needed!

about the instructor


Ayumi is a native speaker originally from Japan. She served as an officer in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force for over 10 years before transitioning into the education field. She received her Japanese language teaching training through Berlitz and has been teaching Japanese as a Second Language for more than eight years through Berlitz, M&K Communication, and independently. she also currently teaches Japanese language and culture to both children and adults at a local Japanese heritage center in the greater Washington D.C. area.

Outside of teaching, Ayumi enjoys practicing yoga, traveling, and spending time with her family and her dog, experiences that often inspire and enrich her lessons.
