I think this is such a great course. You get to talk to someone who speaks the language you are trying to learn as their first language, so they know everything. The size of the class is great because there are enough students to be able to talk and have small conversations, but there aren’t too many so that it’s hard to ask your question. The teacher, Tamaki, was always kind and very understanding and would offer help in the best way. She also tried to find out a little bit about us while staying on track with the lesson plan. That is a style of teaching I love. I would 100% recommend this course to others!
Amparo was so kind and helpful! I needed to refresh my Spanish and she helped me with listening, reading, and speaking. She spoke slowly and used visual clues when I didn’t understand something. She took the time to really explain the concepts and was flexible with my schedule. Thank you!
Taking Korean 101 has been the highlight of my summer! Every week I look forward to attending class and not only learning the Korean language but also about Korean culture. Yun is an excellent teacher who has helped me become as successful as possible on my language learning journey. I would recommend this class to anyone who would like to learn Korean.
I really enjoyed the classes. They were easy to follow and it was not too difficult to catch up if I feel behind. It was a great start in learning Japanese. It was much easier to follow and understand the grammar through the classes rather than any app I’ve tried. I would recommend these classes to anyone that wanted to start learning.
I struggled a lot with language classes at school, they were never really my thing, but I got so much help here and things actually began to make sense. Prof Abadia does such a good job of making things make sense and finding fun ways to incorporate them into lessons.
I worked with Megumi, my Japanese tutor the entire summer of 2021, and I feel that my experience taught me many things. In each lesson, I learned new words to study, read different passages from Japanese textbooks, and did a lot of speaking practice in which we mainly just talked in the target language about our experiences in relation to whatever lesson she taught that day. In my tutoring experience, I had looked for a type of lesson that focused on increasing my writing and speaking skills as well as reading (as I was already fairly confident with my listening). In these lessons, I got exactly what I had hoped. I was given homework for over the week til the next lesson that seemed fairly light, but it was perfect for the more laid back style I had searched for. Now that the summer is over, I have to go back to a slower self-study style, but I definitely hope to learn from her again in the future!
I studied Japanese on Zoom with Megumi-san for about a year and a half. She is a patient, thoughtful, and intelligent tutor that was a good match for a relatively-novice speaker like me!
I loved the teacher! Lee was amazing! She was very engaging with the students and explained everything well. The class size was fairly small, so I felt more comfortable to speak up and ask for help. I will definitely recommend this class!
Korean 101 with Lee was amazing! I have improved my pronunciation and reading skills. The course is fun and engaging and organized so that you build upon what you learn each week. You leave each lesson with a sense of accomplishment! I highly recommend this course!

Lauren is a great and very patient teacher. She easily adjusts to need of a particular student, even a very beginner. I hired Lauren to teach my wife who recently came to the U.S. At first, my wife was unable to even order coffee at Starbucks without my assistance, so shy she was in her poor English language skill. Lauren taught her for about half a year. And now, my wife gets around and communicates well. Recently she was even able to pass the driver’s license test, all without me. Most of this progress is no doubt due to Lauren’s teaching. I would recommend Lauren to all who want to learn English, beginners and intermediates alike.
